PREMIER - Manchester United and Arsenal to miss out on Wolves star
From Liga Financial, Ruben Neves has dropped that he is prepared to remain at Wolverhampton Wanderers amid Manchester United transfer links.
With Paul Pogba’s departure seeming increasingly likely as he runs down the final year of his deal, the 20-times English champions have reportedly identified Ruben Neves as a possible replacement for the Frenchman.
The Gunners have also been credited with an interest in the 24-year-old, however, he now appears to have dashed both teams’ chances of adding him by talking up the prospect of working under Bruno Lage for the next season.
Speaking to Wolves TV, the Portugal international said: “He [Lage] is a very good coach. I am really happy to work with him.
“I spoke with a few friends when he signed for Wolves – that were players in Benfica and are good friends of mine – and they said a lot of good things about him.
“I can see it now. He’s a very good coach with lots of good ideas. I think that when things are completely together, we’ll be a really hard team to beat.”
Neves scored 20 goals and provided 10 assists in 176 games in Wolves colours, and his deal at Molineux is set to expire in 2024.
