AC Milan Step Up Sporting Director Search as Furlani Meets Igli Tare in Rome

AC Milan have stepped up their pursuit of a new sporting director, with CEO Giorgio Furlani holding talks in Rome with Igli Tare - now the frontrunner for the role following the breakdown of negotiations with Fabio Paratici.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Furlani is keen to fast-track the appointment of a new figurehead to take charge of Milan’s transfer strategy ahead of the upcoming season. After failing to reach an agreement with former Juventus and Tottenham chief Paratici, the Rossoneri have turned their attention to Tare, who spent 15 years at Lazio overseeing their sporting operations.
The shortlist has also included Giovanni Sartori, currently at Bologna, and Atalanta’s Tony D’Amico. However, the meeting with Tare could prove decisive, potentially paving the way for a swift resolution. Once the sporting director issue is settled, the focus is expected to shift to the managerial situation at San Siro.
Furlani himself addressed the matter in a pre-match interview ahead of Milan’s 2-2 draw with Fiorentina at San Siro. “I commented on this a few days ago, saying no decision had been made-and that’s still the case,” he said. “There are no updates, no final choices yet. We’re focused on selecting the right person for Milan-someone who fits both the role and the club’s ambitions. The profile? Someone who can help us win.”
