Dele Alli to Start Fresh at Como with Cesc Fàbregas
Dele Alli is set to begin a new chapter with Como. The English midfielder, who has been a free agent since 1 July, hasn’t played since February 2023, when an injury during his stint at Besiktas abruptly ended his time in Turkey. Since then, the former Tottenham star has endured a difficult period plagued by physical setbacks and recurring issues. Now, he hopes to reignite his career, starting with a return to training with Como.
For the time being, Alli will only train with the team, which is managed by Cesc Fàbregas. The Spanish coach confirmed the news last night, stating:
"He could start training with us after Christmas, but it’s just to help him get back in shape."
A Comeback in Progress
Back in April, Alli reflected on his struggles and his ambitions to return to top form:
"I know my level as a player and what I can achieve when my mind and body are in the right place. Of course, the injury has been disappointing, but I’m excited to get back on the pitch. It’s even hard for me to watch other games right now. I have a daily reminder on my phone at 11:00 that says: ‘World Cup 2026.’ That’s my goal.
"People might say I haven’t played in a year, but I don’t care—I know my level. The World Cup is my only focus."
