Inter are stepping up their efforts in the transfer market, and while the list of targets is short, it’s filled with ambition. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri are monitoring Bologna's Argentine forward Santiago Castro, who has impressed in recent weeks. However, prising him away from the Rossoblù won’t be easy and largely depends on how Bologna finish their season.

At the top of Inter’s wishlist, though, remains Jonathan David. The Lille striker has long been admired by the club, and Inter have not stepped back in the race. Just ten days ago—before their Coppa Italia derby—club executives held fresh talks with the Canadian’s representatives, a clear sign that their interest is very much alive.

Contract Situation Favorable for Inter

David’s contractual situation puts Inter in a strong negotiating position. His current demands—reported at €8 million net salary per season and €10 million in agent fees—have so far deterred several clubs, including Arsenal, Barcelona and Juventus.

Inter, constrained by their wage structure (particularly when compared to Marcus Thuram’s current salary), simply cannot meet those figures. However, the Nerazzurri have reaffirmed their strong technical interest in David and are prepared to make a move if no other clubs approach his terms.

Inter’s Offer: Five-Year Deal on the Table

The offer being lined up is a five-year contract worth €5 million net per season—the absolute ceiling for Inter’s current wage budget. The club is ready to invest up to €50 million in total to bring David to San Siro.

The strategy mirrors the move that brought Thuram to Milan two years ago. In that case, Inter worked behind the scenes and moved swiftly to beat out the competition. They’ll be hoping to repeat the trick with David, banking on patience and a compelling long-term project to convince the Lille forward to wear black and blue.
