Despite strong competition from both experienced players, Ibarahimovic and Olivier Giroud, and up-and-coming prospects, Ante Rebic has quietly carved out a crucial position for himself in the Rossoneri attack.

With ageing forwards Olivier Giroud and Zlatan Ibrahimovic sidelined by injuries and the coronavirus since the start of the season, Croatian attacker Rebic has stepped up to fill the void up front, shifting away from his preferred position of winger to provide Milan's younger attacking talent with a focal point.

So far this season, the 28-year-old has scored against Liverpool, where he handed Milan a half-time lead, and in a creditable 1-1 draw at Juventus. He also set up Ibrahimovic's sole goal of the season in Milan's 2-0 win over Lazio earlier this month.

His two goals this season add to his 11 goals last season, all of which came in the second half of the league season as Milan finished second behind winners Inter Milan, their greatest league result since 2012, when Ibrahimovic was still at the seven-time European champions.
