LA LIGA - Dembele-Barcelona, it's over. They hope that the transfer will take place by January 31st
Barcelona have told Ousmane Dembele he will be sold this month because he's refusing to sign a new contract. The France forward, who Barca signed for £135m in 2017, is out of contract in the summer.
Ousmane Dembélé is officially out of the Barcelona project and is immediately on the market. Sporting director Mateu Alemany communicated it through the official channel of the club: "With Ousmane and his agents we started conversations in July. In these 6-7 months we have made several offers, trying to find a way to move forward together. All offers were systematically refused by the agents. "
Barca don't want to lose Dembele for nothing in the summer and they want to get his wages off their books. The new contract the player refused to sign was on reduced terms.
Alemany then continues: "I report that today, January 20, 11 days after the transfer window closes, it is clear that the player does not want to continue with Barcelona. Following this scenario, he and his agents have been informed that he must leave immediately, because we want players, who join our cause and we hope that the transfer will take place by January 31st ".
Alemany concludes: "We don't want to have players with us who don't want to be at Barça and the consequence is that they won't be part of it anymore."
