Liverpool tempting Sassuolo and Italy hitman Berardi
Proving himself a valuable backup forward for the Euro 2020 final-game accomplishing side Italy, prominent frontline player and Sassuolo powerhouse Domenico Berardi, turning 27 on August 1st, is allegedly growing into a major market target for Liverpool management. According to what reported by Italian source La Stampa today edition, Berardi, in spite of his ongoing long-term contract with Neroverdi, whose current deadline is set at June 2024, is getting tempted by making the big leap, and join Reds, meaning one of the most prestigious football clubs worldwide, as an immediate follow-up to his so far smalltown club career.
Facing what's most likely the inevitable, i.e. having to hand Berardi out, after as much as nine first-team seasons together, Sassuolo are planning to raise the stakes, and set a transfer fee between 50 and 60 million euros on their resident star, once Euro 2020 campaign is over. To this end, the player is still tracked by a bunch more clubs, including Leicester City, Tottenham, and AC Milan.
Across his pro club career, entirely spent as a Sassuolo player so far, Domenico Berardi capped 291 times in official games, scoring 105 goals therein. His only experience into European cups dates back to 2016/17, when he played four Europa League matches, scoring five goals in the process. National team-wise, he made his Azzurri debut back in June 2018 (though having already fended for Italy senior side, back when Gian Piero Ventura was the head coach, a year before, in an unofficial friendly match against San Marino), and, from then on, has been collecting 16 caps and 5 goals netted.
