SERIE A - Genoa closing in on Mexican Johan Vazquez
In a new report by Mexican sports broadcaster TUDN, it was revealed that Genoa are close to acquiring Mexican young talent Johan Vazquez of Pumas.
The negotiations between the two clubs seem to be at an advanced stage, and Vazquez's transfer could be just a matter of hours. The 22-year old defender did admit that a European club was after him, but refused to reveal what club it was when he was asked after his arrival to Mexico City from Tokyo, where he represented the Mexican Olympic football team. It is now clear that that club was Genoa of Serie A.
He said: "It is a dream of mine to play in Europe, there have been offers, I won't deny it, there have been talks with Pumas, my representatives, these are key weeks, let's wait and see". Vazquez would join the other Mexican currently playing in Serie A, Napoli's Hirving Lozano, who has been one of the club's bright spots. In the past, other Mexican defenders played in Serie A, namely, Hector Moreno for Roma and Carlos Salcedo for Fiorentina, although their time there wasn't the best. Vazquez will hope he can do better and become a Serie A mainstay just like Lozano.
